MIHS Participates in Local High School Career Fair
This February, Troy Athens High School in Troy, Mich., held
a career fair that featured a booth hosted by the AIHA®
Michigan Industrial Hygiene Society (MIHS). The high
school’s career day focused on professions in the science,
technology, engineering and math fields. The fair included a
live downlink to NASA astronauts at the international space
station, and students were given the opportunity to ask the
astronauts questions. Nearly 500 adults and elementary, middle and high school students were in attendance, and local
television news stations covered the event.
MIHS President-elect
Laura B. Randall, CIH,
and board member Rich
McLonis, CIH, handed
out brochures from industrial hygiene graduate
programs at Wayne State
University Occupational
and Environmental
Health Science program
and University of Michigan School of Public
Health, as well as AIHA
brochures about industrial hygiene and careers
in IH and OEHS.
