process is designed to facilitate the continuous improvement of PDC offerings.
Due to the sheer number of submis-
sions, not all proposals can be selected.
Reasons proposals are declined or not se-
lected include:
• Questions about the proposal’s com-
pleteness, accuracy, timeliness, and
relevance
• Below average evaluations (if previously
presented)
• Topic demand (marketing data, attendance statistics)
• Imbalance of PDCs in one area or
similar content to another PDC
• Balance of committee and non-
committee PDCs
• Number of new vs. repeated PDCs
• Ratio of introductory, intermediate and
advanced PDCs
• Scheduling conflicts (instructor or re-
sources)
• Technical reviewer evaluations
• Course rotation
The submission process timeline is
set in accordance with administrative,
marketing and logistical deadlines. The
schedule has little flexibility because
many deadlines impact one another.
The submission process begins with the
Aug. 15 submission deadline. Proposals
are then reviewed by the CEC and tech-
nical committee. In September and Oc-
tober, the CEC makes its selections and
sends notifications to instructors.
The CEC understands that the PDC submission and review process is complex.
