EPA Releases Draft Formaldehyde Assessment Report
Aug. 31, 2010, is the deadline for comments on EPA’s draft
formaldehyde assessment, which was released June 2. Those
who wish to submit oral comments can do so at a July 27 “lis-
tening session.”
After the comment period ends, the draft assessment will be
reviewed by an expert panel assembled by the National Acad-
emy of Sciences. EPA will use the public comments and guid-
ance from the National Academy of Sciences to complete the
Integrated Risk Information System (IRIS) Health Assessment
for Formaldehyde.

2011 Safe-in-Sound Award Call for Nominations
NIOSH and the National Hearing Conservation Association
(NHCA) are calling for nominations for the 2011 Safe-in-Sound
Award. Given annually at the Annual Hearing Conservation
Conference, the Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Pre-
vention Award aims to recognize organizations with successful
hearing loss prevention programs. The application deadline for
nominations is Sept. 1, 2010.
