AIHA-LAP, LLC Provides New Tools for Verifying Lab

Lists of Accredited Labs
At www.aihaaccreditedlabs.com, users will find links to lists of accredited labs for the Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Accreditation
Program, the Environmental Lead Laboratory Accreditation Program, the Environmental Microbiology Laboratory Accreditation
Program, and the Food Laboratory Accreditation Program. Users
can click on the appropriate terms to sort these lists according to
AIHA-LAP, LLC-accredited laboratory number; laboratory name,
address, and contact information; the dates of the accreditation period; and commercial status.
On the far right, the lists indicate the laboratories’ scope of
accreditation (Fo T link), accreditation Certificate, and Scope of
Accreditation paperwork as sent to the laboratory (Certificate
link). If a laboratory has received a revised Scope or Certificate
due to non-proficiency status or other suspension, or adding a
Field of Testing (Fo T or method), the materials will be updated
on the website. The scope of accreditation indicates the program(s) for which the laboratory is accredited, their initial accreditation date, the issue date of their current accreditation
scope, the Fo Ts and methods for which the laboratory is currently accredited, and proficiency testing in which the laboratory participates. Internal methods, unless proprietary, are listed
with a description. Users can download this paperwork as a
record for evaluation or proof of accreditation. Specific methods for a test should be on the selected laboratory’s scope; however, if a standard reference method exists for a specific
analyte, this method will be listed on the scope instead of the
laboratory’s internal method. Any standard method that has
been modified will be listed as such on the scope.
Soon, users will have the ability to open the “Export and Filter”
bar above the list and perform a search by Field of Testing (
instrumentation), detector, and method. AIHA-LAP, LLC anticipates this
functionality by September 2010.
Advertising Policy
As of July 1, 2010, laboratories using the AIHA-LAP, LLC logo(s) in
their advertising are required to use the 2010 logos. All uses of the
AIHA-LAP, LLC accreditation logo must be accompanied by the
laboratory identification number, which must appear directly beneath the accreditation logo. Users can cross-reference that laboratory by ID on www.aihaaccreditedlabs.com and confirm their scope
of accreditation. The logos also contain a reference to ISO/IEC
17025:2005 and the appropriate accreditation program.
Effective April 2010, the terms of advertising as listed in AIHA-LAP,
LLC Policy Module 7 ( www.aihaaccreditedlabs.org/PolicyModules/
Documents/Policy%20Module%207%20Advertising_R5.pdf) state:
• AIHA-LAP, LLC accreditation or affiliation may be referenced by
use of (1) a statement of AIHA-LAP, LLC accreditation with Lab-
oratory ID number, and/or (2) the AIHA-LAP, LLC Laboratory ID
