a press release. The nominated films
were selected from 2,813 documentaries
from 97 countries.

EPA Reports Progress Toward
Predicting Chemical Toxicity
EPA’s ToxCast screening program has
begun screening approximately 1,000
chemicals for potential toxicity to peo-
ple and the environment, the agency
announced Nov. 30. ToxCast is designed
to determine the impacts of chemical
exposures on the human body. Accord-
ing to EPA, ToxCast will eventually be
able to screen thousands of chemicals in
fast, cost-effective tests.
