Keynote Speakers Challenge, Inform Attendees
BY ED RUTKOWSKI
Many events are said to start with a bang, but few live up to the phrase as emphatically
or as literally as AIHce 2011 in Portland,
Ore. Attendees taking their seats for the
Opening General Session at the Oregon
Convention Center were brought to attention by the martial beat of The Last
Regiment of Syncopated Drummers, a
Portland-area favorite. The black-clad,
flag-waving, shade-wearing ensemble
marched and pounded their way through
an entertaining fifteen-minute performance as enervating as a raft of espressos.
That energy carried more than 5,500
attendees through three days of technical
sessions, receptions, meetings and much
more. As usual, among the highlights at
the largest annual conference and exposition for OEHS professionals were the
keynote speakers, whose expertise challenged and informed attendees on a wide
range of issues.
