Leadership Course Tops PDC Rankings
“Exceptional Functional Leadership,” a professional development course (PDC)
presented by Richard Fulwiler, ScD, CIH, CSHM, received the highest ranking of
all PDCs offered at AIHce 2011. The course focused on skills participants could
use to become successful leaders in environmental health and safety.
More than 60 PDCs spanning 40 topic areas were delivered at AIHce 2011,
and more than 2,300 participants attended PDCs May 13–15.
The PDC rankings were derived from evaluations submitted by course participants weighing overall participant satisfaction ratings and attendance. The overall evaluations factor in quantitative data such as participant comments and
feedback from PDC monitors, technical auditors, and the Continuing Education
Committee (CEC).

AIHce 2011 in Portland, Ore. For the 2011–
2012 academic year, AIHF gave more than
$135,000 in scholarships to 30 deserving
industrial hygiene students. The Synergist

the science of industrial hygiene and protect workers at all levels of industry. Students are evaluated on academic
record, extracurricular activities, future goals
as an IH, and potential for leadership in the
industrial hygiene profession. Scholarships
